“ Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind. ”
Of the three, it is the last one that overwhelmingly occupies my thoughts as of late. The times we are living are unprecedented, as my generation and the next will have to decide if this little experiment of ours called "intelligent life" is going to continue on this planet. All other issues pale in comparison, and even the scientific quest of finding out more about the world has taken a back seat in my mind. The evidence for anthropogenic climate change is incontrovertible; you can find it here. If you are wondering what you can do about it, go here.
I have a boundless passion for Nature, which sometimes borders on a kind of spiritual devotion that I cannot quite put into words. I am not a religious person however, certainly not in the traditional sense. I am especially interested in questions at the foundation of physics and philosophy, and in my own work I have touched upon cosmology, particle physics, and quantum gravity. Theoretical physics remains perhaps my biggest passion, but my scientific curiosity is much broader.
I am a big fan of videogames and tabletop RPGs. Especially when they involve huge virtual worlds that I can get lost in (doesn't matter much if they are powered by bits or human imagination). You might think it's escapism, and you might be right.
As a whole, I am interested in more things than I care to mention, and I constantly find new reasons to wonder about the intricacies of the world. I try to collect my thoughts on different topics in my blog, whose outline is much like the rest of my life: anarchic.
